HEMPTRAIN™ SUCCESSFULLY SEPARATES HIGH FROM LOW CBD FEEDSTOCK IN FRESH GREEN/WET HEMP TOPS
CALGARY, Alberta, August 29, 2019 – Canadian Greenfield Technologies Corp. (CGT) has successfully completed processing fresh green (“wet”) industrial hemp tops (katani), from this year’s Western Canadian harvest, using a state-of-the-art HempTrain™ Hemp Processing Platform. The results mark an important milestone in the company’s leadership role in hemp processing by facilitating the hemp industry’s ability to harvest and process hemp for CBD on a large-scale.
Early extraction of CBD is paramount because attainable CBD quantities in the hemp plant reduce dramatically once harvested due to oxidative, thermal, and photo-degradation. Most of the hemp plant is comprised of material with lower to no CBD. HempTrain™ enables separation of the hemp plant tops into high and low CBD streams, allowing processors to extract CBD from the higher-value feedstock as the highest priority.
